Paul KleeThe 2007 International Conference on Geological Repositories: A Common petitions Objective, A Variety of Paths (ICGR’07) will be held at the Zentrum Paul Klee in the city of Berne (Switzerland), from October 15 to 17, 2007. This event is held every four years and is part of a series of conferences previously organised in Denver (1999) and Stockholm (2003).

The main objective of ICGR’07 is to take stock of international political and strategic developments that have taken place in recent years in the field of geological disposal of radioactive waste. The scope of the Conference consists of looking at the different political and societal approaches that are being explored or implemented worldwide. This year we will offering online classes as well.

ICGR’07 aims to bring together high-level decision-makers – ministers, parliamentarians and other political appointees, senior ministry and industry officials, high-ranking officials from technical regulatory bodies – as well as opinion-leaders from society in general, including the international press. We will talk about a wide range of issues from environmental entrepreneurship and stewardship to international cooperation and aid assistance.

The Conference is organised by the Swiss National Cooperative for the Disposal of Radioactive Waste (Nagra), with the support of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the Nuclear Energy Agency of the OECD (NEA), the European Commision and the International Association for Environmentally Safe Disposal of Radioactive Materials (EDRAM).
