Day 1 : October 15, 2007: Ensuring political and institutional legitimacy      
The first day of the conference was devoted to the essential role of governments in defining national strategies and establishing the legal and political framework for implementing repository projects. Speakers shared their experience with the implementation process from the political, legislative and social perspective of different countries.
Senior representatives from international organisations presented the contribution of their respective agencies.

Day 2 : October 16, 2007         Ensuring protection, creating trust and bringing national projects forward  
The second day of the conference explored the processes for decision making and implementation of geological repositories from the perspectives of societal involvement, practical implementation and regulatory supervision.
Implementing the geological disposal of radioactive waste within the political and legal framework discussed on the previous day is a challenging prospect in many countries, especially with respect to the role and involvement of society in general, and potential siting regions and communities in particular, in the decision-making process.
