Study tour to the Mont Terri Underground Rock Laboratory
The Mont Terri Underground Rock Laboratory (URL) is located in a tunnel system in the Jura Mountains near St-Ursanne in the north-western part of Switzerland. For more than ten years, the URL has offered excellent conditions for expanding knowledge on the properties of the Opalinus Clay formation within the framework of an international collaboration.
The tour will be organised by bus. Pick-up and departure from the conference hotels will be around 08:00h (detailed information will be provided during the conference). Following arrival at the URL headquarters, the participants will be introduced to the current research activities and will be guided through the underground facilities. A small lunch will be served in St-Ursanne before returning to Berne. Arrival at Berne main station will be around 16:00h.
